Evergreen Lighting LED Board Replacement Information

Technology: Evergreen Lighting utilizes Alta LED Board Technology exclusively in our light fixtures. Since 2010, Alta LED has manufactured LED Boards for Evergreen Lighting and has over the last 13 years updated technology with increased Light Output and Life Expectancy. Since 2010, Evergreen Lighting has sold hundreds of thousands of fixtures with hardwired LED boards using all kelvins of LED chips. The Alta LED Technology is made for Constant Current Output which enables maximum useable light in commercial applications. Evergreen Lighting has observed over the last 13 years that most customers are under the impression that LED lasts forever. LED has a life expectancy like all sources of light and LED is the most energy efficient and longest lasting among them all. The evolution of LED is constantly improving from year to year. Alta LED has seen the LED boards improve from 3-5 years thru 2020, to 5-7 years currently. All customers have invested in the future technology of LED, and have benefited with having lower energy costs along with no maintenance for 3-5 years in the past, and now 5-7 years currently and it looks like up to 10 years of life into the future. As the end of life approaches each Alta LED board, you will see signs of failure such as connectors and chips having burn marks that shows the board shorting out, or the phosphor on each chip being burned off over time which exposes the Blue Diode underneath showing now a blue color. If either of these 2 symptoms are shown, the LED board must be replaced.

Recommendations: All projects that have more than 20 LED boards should figure into their yearly budget a maintenance replacement program. This program needs to be budgeted every 5 years on the average. A complete board replacement for your project is recommended to limit the numerous times a maintenance person goes into the fixture and in most cases breaking the seals for wet location. LED boards are like Compact Fluorescent lamps, or regular Incandescent light bulbs, they never go out at the same time as the other. A one-time LED board replacement every 5-7 years is recommended.

Replacement: Changing the Alta LED boards is very quick and easy. Each LED board has quick-connect wire connections for the + and – wire to plug into. It is already low voltage so the chance of getting shocked is a lot lower than if it was 120 volt or 277 volt. Removal of the LED board consists of removing 2-4 screws, pushing down on the top of each wire connector to dislodge the wire leads, then screw down the new LED board, and connect back into the same + or – spot in the connector and that is done. Usually takes less than 5 minutes per LED board to be changed.
